The United States Mission in Saudi Arabia reiterates its recommendation that U.S. citizens exercise caution in places frequented by foreigners due to the continuing risk of terrorist attacks directed or inspired by ISIS (Da'esh) and Al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula across the Kingdom. Terrorist attacks can occur anywhere in the country. In the past, extremists have targeted Saudi government security forces and public venues.
The U.S. Mission in Saudi Arabia also reiterates its recommendation that U.S. citizens carefully consider the risks of traveling to Saudi Arabia and limit non-essential travel within the country. Regardless of your location, keep your security and situational awareness high. Be prepared to cancel or postpone activities for your personal security should circumstances dictate and remember to vary your routes and times when traveling in the Kingdom. Report security concerns to the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh and Consulates General in Jeddah or Dhahran.
