Security Message for U.S. Citizens: Budapest (Hungary), Planned Demonstrations on July 8

The U.S. Embassy informs U.S. citizens that the following demonstrations are expected to take place in Budapest:

? Beginning at 3:00 p.m. on July 8, the Rainbow Mission will be demonstrating with the stated purpose of supporting the LGBT Pride March. The Budapest Police anticipates there will be approximately 4000 people. The demonstrators are expected to take the following route: Kossuth ter (district 5) � Alkotmany utca (disrict 5) � Bajcsy Zsilinszky A�t (district 5 and 6) � Nagymezo utca (district 6) � Andrassy A�t (district 6) � HosAlk tere (district 6 and 14).

? Beginning at 2:00 p.m. on July 8, private individuals will be demonstrating with the purpose of protesting against the LGBT Pride March. The Budapest Police anticipates there will be approximately 100 people. The demonstration will take place at VertanA�k tere (district 5, nearby Kossuth ter).

? Even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate into violence. You should avoid areas of demonstrations, and exercise caution if in the vicinity of any large gatherings, protests, or demonstrations.
