South Korea to Provide Supports to Enhance Ethiopia’s Agricultural Mechanization Efforts

The governments of Ethiopia and South Korea have agreed to enhance cooperation in the area of agricultural mechanization.

Ethiopia’s Agriculture Minister, Girma Amenti and the president of Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology, Min Byung-joo signed today a memorandum of understanding today to work in partnership to enhance agricultural mechanization.

During the occasion, the minister said agriculture is the backbone of Ethiopia’s economy, praising the commitment being demonstrated by the government of Korea to work with Ethiopia to modernize the sector.

The president of Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology stated for her part that the support to be provided by the government of Korea in the area of agricultural mechanization is instrumental to modernize Ethiopia’s agriculture sector.

According to the agreement, the government of South Korea will provide supports to Ethiopia in terms of production and maintenance of agricultural machineries, capacity building trainings, agro-processing, enhancing wheat production through mechanization, among other related issues.

Ethiopia and South Korea have also signed today a memorandum of understanding on trade promotion which will facilitate more trade exchange and establish joint businesses between the two countries.

Trade and Regional Integration Minister, Gebremeskel Challa and Moon Kyu Bang, Trade, Industry and Energy Minister of South Korea signed the agreement in Addis Ababa.
