Solenzo-Koundougou Road Submerged After Heavy Rains

Solenzo: Regional road number 24 linking Solenzo to Koundougou, in the Banwa province, has become difficult to pass since the night of Saturday, July 26 to Sunday, July 27, 2025, due to heavy rains which submerged several sections.

According to Burkina Information Agency, as soon as they leave Solenzo, users are faced with a degraded road surface, marked by potholes, cuts, and areas completely flooded, particularly from the village of Gnassoumadougou. The road, 75 kilometers long, is often referred to as the “road from hell” by many passengers because of its poor condition and the increasing difficulty of traveling it, especially during the rainy season.

“I loaded my truck with goods, but how can we get through with the road closed?” asked Ousmane Ou©draogo, a trader from Solenzo. The Solenzo-Bobo-Dioulasso journey, a distance of 145 kilometers, requires between five and six hours of driving due to the very poor condition of the road.

Users are calling on the authorities to find an urgent solution to restore accessibility and facilitate the movement of goods and people in this isolated area. Regional road number 24 is an important axis for opening up the north of the Banwa province and for supplying local markets.
