Security Message for U.S. Citizens: Tokyo (Japan), Tropical Cyclone Noru (No. 5)

The U.S. Embassy in Tokyo cautions U.S. citizens that Typhoon Noru (Typhoon Number 5) is expected to make landfall near Amami Oshima Island in Kagoshima Prefecture during the morning of August 5, 2017, and then move on to affect Kyushu and possibly other parts of Japan. In conjunction with this storm, the Japan Meteorological Agency has issued a High Wave and Thunderstorm advisory for affected regions of Okinawa, Kagoshima, and Miyazaki Prefectures. Expect extremely high winds, dangerous storm tides, heavy rainfall, and possible flooding to occur.
