Security Message for U.S. Citizens: Rome (Italy), Planned Demonstration on January 27-28

The Italian State Police informed the Regional Security Office (RSO) that today, January 27, 2017 from 1030 to 1400, a demonstration of approximately 150 people will be held near the Ministry of Labor on via Flavia, 6. The demonstrators identify themselves as the Socially Useful Workers and are arriving from Naples to demonstrate against the Italian government. Italian police will be monitoring the event and traffic delays in the area are likely.

The Italian State Police has also informed the Regional Security Office (RSO) that on Saturday, January 28, 2017 from 1500 to 2000, a demonstration of approximately 5,000 people, will march using the following route:

Piazza della Repubblica, Largo Santa Susanna, via Barberini, Piazza Barberini, via del Tritone, Piazza S. Silvestro (Please see maps below).

The demonstrators are sponsored by Fratelli d'Italia (right wing party) and will also demonstrate against the Government of Italy. Italian police will also be monitoring the event and traffic delays in the area are likely.
