Security Message for U.S. citizens: Casablanca (Morocco), Potential Demonstrations

The U.S. Mission has received reports regarding potential demonstrations this afternoon Friday, October 14, in various unspecified cities around Morocco. According to media reporting, these demonstrations pertain to the recent arrest of several Moroccan females accused of having links to Daesh/ISIS and are being organized by local religiously-affiliated organizations. U.S. Mission sources report that the government has not approved these demonstrations, and that the police will prohibit any demonstration from taking place. Should you be in the area of a demonstration, please exercise caution, maintain a low profile, and remain aware of your surroundings as even peaceful protests or demonstrations can become violent and unpredictable.
