The U.S. Embassy Brussels informs all U.S. citizens that the following protest is expected in Brussels. Police will maintain order. On May 31, 2016 from 11:00 to 15:00 a National protest march against the current government is being organized by the unions from the North Station to Place Albertine (in RED). People are assembling from 9:30 to 11:00 at the North Station. The protest march starts at 11:00 along the following route: North Station, small ring road, Place Madou, US Embassy and Porte de Namur to Place Albertine. The end of the protest march is scheduled at 15:00 at Place Albertine. Approximately 10,000 people are expected to participate. Local police will be present. Demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate into violence. You should avoid areas of demonstrations, and exercise caution if in the vicinity of any large gatherings, protests, or demonstrations. We strongly recommend that U.S. citizenstraveling to or residing in Belgium enroll in the Department of State's Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP).
