Bobo-dioulasso: A vast access road reshaping project is underway in the city of Bobo-Dioulasso over an estimated distance of nearly 20 kilometers. The report, this Friday, September 26, 2025, reveals a mobilization in several neighborhoods of the economic capital of Burkina Faso, including Belle Ville, Lafiabougou, Sarfalao, Yeguere, as well as Rue du Village Artisanal and sectors 21, 24, and 25.
According to Burkina Information Agency, machinery from the Faso Mebo company is hard at work in these areas, giving a new look to the long-deteriorated streets. Engineer Abdoul Kader Nimi Nabi, site manager, emphasized the urgent need for intervention due to the deteriorated state of the roads. He stated that the roads had been abandoned and turned into dumping grounds, requiring significant cleanup and backfill operations.
Engineer Bouba Tangara noted the previous difficulty of access in several neighborhoods and expressed that the work would significantly improve urban mobility, benefiting the daily lives of residents. The road network, either rehabilitated or in the process of being rehabilitated, is already offering visible improvements, as noted by users like Tidiane Djibo, who can now drive on roads that were previously inaccessible.
Resident Tebi Ido highlighted the broader implications of the road development initiatives, asserting that road development is integral to a country’s overall development. These efforts are being diligently overseen by Lieutenant Elvis Kapioko, commander of the Faso Mebo presidential initiative in Bobo-Dioulasso, ensuring thorough monitoring and coordination.
Commander Elvis stated that the work, mostly conducted at night, was completed within a month and is now 90% complete. Despite the challenge of rains, the community development stakeholders are progressing with a structured plan, marking a significant step toward a more accessible and modern city, aligning with President Captain Ibrahim Traore’s vision for Faso.
