Diebougou: The new high school graduates of the commune of Diebougou, who took part in the 2025 patriotic immersion held in Gaoua, capital of the Djoro region, organized, on Saturday, September 27, a series of civic activities in their town.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the graduates engaged in several community service tasks, including weeding and waste collection at the Medical Center with Surgical Unit (CMA) and the Diebougou Gendarmerie Company. The CMA supported these efforts by providing face masks and protective equipment for the participants.
The graduates also contributed to the beautification of their community by planting around ten yellow flamboyant trees on the grounds of the Diebougou General Education College (CEG). This initiative was driven by the trees’ potential to offer shade to the college’s users.
The day concluded with a friendly soccer match at the Jean-Baptiste Ouattara Stadium. The match featured the Immerges against the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), with the FDS emerging victorious with a score of 5-2. The high school graduates’ representative, Ronaldo Sansan Da, emphasized that the match aimed to foster connections with the FDS and highlight their commitment to collaborating in efforts against terrorism. He urged the local population to work closely with the FDS to tackle violent extremism and terrorism.
The civic activities were overseen by the municipality of Diebougou, the public health police brigade, the citizen monitoring team, and the provincial focal point for the presidential initiative for community development. Abel Some, the provincial focal point, praised the graduates, commenting on their commendable change in behavior and encouraging their continued efforts.
Bougouriba High Commissioner Amidou Konate visited the site to offer support and advice to the participants. He encouraged them to maintain their dedication to civic and patriotic actions, aligned with Burkina Faso’s vision of progressive and popular revolution.
Looking ahead, the graduates plan to conduct awareness sessions on civic and social values at six secondary schools in Diebougou. These sessions will be accompanied by tree planting activities. The schools involved include the provincial high school, the municipal high school, the Diebougou high school, the Martin Davies private evangelical high school, the Pierre Kula middle school, and the Diebougou general education college (CEG).
The patriotic immersion program, a month-long national initiative for new high school graduates, instills values of civic duty, discipline, and solidarity, while also equipping young people with training in environmental protection and community engagement.
