Beijing: The Embassy of Burkina Faso in China hosted a farewell ceremony for two military office officials, namely Defense Attach© Colonel-Major Serge Alain Ou©draogo and Military Office Treasurer Chief Warrant Officer Th©odore Zongo, marking the end of their five-year mission.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony, which took place at the diplomatic mission, was attended by Burkina Faso Ambassador to China Daouda Biti©, embassy staff, and Burkinabe residents in China. The event began with a moment of silence to honor soldiers and Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland who sacrificed their lives for Burkina Faso’s security and stability. Ambassador Biti© commended the two officials for their exceptional service and dedication.
Ambassador Biti© highlighted the challenges faced during the Covid-19 pandemic, noting Colonel-Major Ou©draogo’s determination to return to his post to support the fight against terrorism. He acknowledged the Colonel-Major’s efforts to engage with military institutions and arms companies in China, contributing to China’s support in Burkina Faso’s security endeavors.
Similarly, Chief Warrant Officer Zongo was praised for his quick integration and effective management of the military office’s finances, even under pandemic restrictions. Ambassador Biti© lauded Zongo’s professionalism and the positive audit results of his accounts, expressing pride in his work.
Colonel-Major Ou©draogo expressed his satisfaction with the cooperative and friendly environment at the embassy. He emphasized the significance of resuming diplomatic relations with China and the extensive training and military cooperation opportunities Burkina Faso has benefited from, including advanced training and military equipment support.
The Colonel-Major also shared insights on China’s strategic approach to military operations and its potential as a development model for Burkina Faso, advocating for strengthened cooperation in training and technology transfer.
Both officials expressed gratitude for their experiences and contributions during their tenure, highlighting the importance of continued strategic cooperation between Burkina Faso and China.
