Koup©la: The Association for the Promotion of Local Foods held the closing ceremony of its third cooking camp activities on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the Notre Dame des Groces Catholic School in Koup©la. The ceremony was attended by 25 people, including the regional director in charge of Culture and the provincial directors in charge of Culture.
According to Burkina Information Agency, for five days, 25 participants enhanced their culinary skills at the 3rd edition of the cooking holiday camp, organized by the Association for the Promotion of Local Foods. Participants focused on mastering nine local dishes and acquired techniques in soilless agriculture and the creation of organic pesticides.
Gis¨le Rosalie Wendgouda Silga, one of the participants, expressed that the training would make them more efficient, particularly in cooking and producing local food for their families’ well-being. She noted the value of learning how to prepare several local dishes and described the cooking camp as an invaluable opportunity, especially for young individuals, and encouraged both women and men to partake.
The president of the Association for the Promotion of Local Food, Sylvie K©r©/Kabor©, emphasized the initiative’s aim to encourage the community to recognize the importance of local food. She expressed satisfaction with the 3rd edition despite some challenges and urged parents to enroll their children to learn about local dishes, hoping to make the promotion of local consumption a reality.
The provincial director in charge of Culture of Kourittenga, Loukmane Badolo, praised and supported the Association’s endeavor at the end of the ceremony. He encouraged participants to apply their newfound knowledge for the benefit of the community, further promoting local consumption.
