Abuja: The President of the ECOWAS Commission, H.E. Dr. Omar Alieu Touray, welcomed Prof. Wautabouna Ouattara, the Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for the West Africa region, during a courtesy visit. The meeting was held to discuss mutual cooperation and the strengthening of economic ties.

According to African Press Organization, President Touray expressed support for Prof. Ouattara's appointment and emphasized the importance of the IMF's role in fostering a West African regional market. He highlighted the need for programs that would enhance regional stability and integration.

Prof. Ouattara commended ECOWAS for its efforts in conflict resolution and economic integration within the region. He assured closer collaboration with ECOWAS and the 14 countries he oversees to tackle issues such as public debt, budget deficits, and economic growth.
