Bobo-dioulasso: The Regional Directorate of Agriculture, Animal Resources and Fisheries of Hauts-Bassins organized a validation workshop in Bobo-Dioulasso to examine the regional analysis bulletin on food and nutritional security for the second quarter of 2025, with the support of the NGO Action Against Hunger (ACF).
According to Burkina Information Agency, the workshop was chaired by Mr. TRAOR€° Fousseni, a research officer representing the Governorate of the Hauts-Bassins region. The bulletin, covering the period from April to June 2025, aims to offer updated insights into the food situation to enhance surveillance and guide interventions strategically.
The initiators highlighted that households in Burkina Faso and other Sahelian countries heavily depend on agriculture and livestock. However, these livelihoods face challenges due to climate change effects, such as erratic rainfall, recurring droughts, and flooding, which impact agricultural and pastoral yields.
To address the need for reliable food security information, the NGO Action Against Hunger (ACF) provided technical and financial support to the regional directorate. Over eight days, representatives from various technical departments collected, processed, and analyzed data, culminating in technical and regional validation workshops.
Mr. TRAOR€° Fousseni commended the efforts of all participants in developing the bulletin and expressed gratitude to the technical and financial partners, notably ACF, for their support. The validated bulletin will now guide strategic decision-making processes at the regional level.
