Bobo-dioulasso: Burkinabe international Sami Hien organized a gala match in his home neighborhood of Sector 22 of Bobo-Dioulasso, with the aim of promoting peace, forgiveness and social cohesion.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the courtyard of the Accart Ville Ouest primary school, commonly known as Bassabo, welcomed a large crowd who came to watch the match. The event featured Sami’s team, accompanied by goalkeeper Mohamed Zegu© and other players, competing against the Monaco team, consisting of the neighborhood’s elders.
The match was played over two 25-minute periods and concluded with a victory for Sami’s team with a score of 4-3. In a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, the referee humorously remarked: “Professionals must not lose, that’s the rule of a gala match!”
After the match, Sami Hien commented on the significance of the event, stating, “A gala match is more than a sporting event; it is a vehicle for peace, living together, and fraternity. Through the game, the Burkinabe build the foundations of lasting social cohesion.”
