Faso Mebo Initiative Accelerates Road Rehabilitation in Tampouy

Ouagadougou: The rehabilitation work on the “Gay Baongo” road in the Tampouy district, launched as part of the Faso Mebo Presidential Initiative, is 70% complete, announced Friday the senior technician in civil engineering, Warrant Officer Moussa Amadou Maga. It is a completely degraded road that needs to be rebuilt in order to relieve the population.

According to Burkina Information Agency, approximately 1.3 km long, the “Gay Baongo” section of the Tampouy district of Ouagadougou is widely used but has become almost impassable, especially during this winter season. The section is degraded in several places and is being resurfaced by the Faso Mebo Presidential Initiative.

“After only two weeks of work, I can say that we are approximately 70% of the way through the work,” said the technician in charge of the work, Warrant Officer Moussa Amadou Maga.

According to him, this is not the only road undergoing rehabilitation in the Tampouy district. This is the third to be rehabilitated, with a total of approximately 2.8 km of degraded roads restored.

For local residents, it is a sigh of relief because the state of deterioration of the road had become a real concern.

“What Faso Mebo is doing is truly fantastic,” said one local resident, and another added, “we just want to thank everyone. Everyone who is working on it, especially the head of state.”

The Faso Mebo initiative aims to open up and develop road infrastructure in the towns and villages of Burkina Faso.
