Elderly Reaffirm Commitment to Republican Values at Kaya Flag-Raising Ceremony


Sandbondtenga: The Kaya governorate square hosted the solemn flag-raising ceremony on Thursday. Presided over by the Secretary General of the Koulse region, Bernadette Adenyo/Serme, the ceremony drew a crowd primarily composed of elderly people from various local organizations.



According to Burkina Information Agency, this activity is part of the initiative of the governor of Koulse, Colonel-Major Blaise Z. Ouedraogo, which consists of dedicating each last Thursday of the month to a socio-professional group in the region to carry out a solemn raising of the national colors. The elderly, who were highly mobilized, reaffirmed their commitment to patriotic values and national unity during the event.



The region’s secretary general emphasized the aim of this initiative, which is to involve every citizen in the flag-raising ritual. “We all know the importance of the flag in our country, especially in this security context where each of us must carry this country on our shoulders, through our daily actions and words,” she stated.



Ms. Adenyo/Serme also highlighted the essential role and place of elders in the social and community development of Burkina Faso. This ceremony provided a moment of renewal for the elderly, who expressed their gratitude to the President of Burkina Faso for this initiative of civic duty and patriotism.



The president of the provincial council of elderly people of Sandbondtenga, Foulou Naaba, indicated that this raising of the colors represents an opportunity for the elders to show the young that they must follow in the footsteps of their predecessors to build a strong and united nation. He urged younger generations to cultivate more love for Burkina Faso through their actions and words.
