Doualla excluded from Championship play-offs for alleged age fraud

By Charity Nginyu Wilfried Doualla, one of the standout players for the Indomptable Lions during the recent African Cup of Nations held in Côte d'Ivoire, is reported to have been excluded from the championship play-offs due to allegations of double identity. According to Equinoxe TV, the Fecafoot (Cameroonian Football Federation) has revealed that the midfielder from Victoria United of Limbe stands accused of falsifying his age. Doualla, who was touted as a rising star and was selected among the national team players for the African Cup of Nations, has come under scrutiny for allegedly misrepresenting his age. Despite being presented as a 17-year-old talent, he did not make a single appearance on the field during the tournament. Adding to the controversy, Doualla faced criticism for reportedly showcasing his dancing skills instead of focusing on his football responsibilities while in Ivory Coast for the prestigious tournament. The development has raised questions about the integrity of age verification p rocesses in Cameroon football and has cast a shadow over Doualla's career. The revelation, Equinoxe TV says has equally drawn parallels to another player, Jean Prosper Nlend Ntep, whose qualification with Union de Douala is under dispute following a reserve filed by the club in connection with the decisive 18th-round match against Dynamo. Injury update: ‘It’s going to take a few weeks’ Mbeumo after resuming training

Bryan Mbeumo has resumed training with Brentford FC after sitting out since picking an ankle injury on December 6, in the 1-2 defeat to Brighton.

The Cameroonian forward who missed the AFCON 2023 due to the injury, said he is 'happy to be back around the boys', even though he may only be fully fit to play after the March international break, coach Thomas Frank confirmed.

The operation on his ankle in December required that he sits out for at least three months.

Bryan said it is the biggest injury he's had.

'I had a similar injury on the same ankle when I was 18 but it was not that bad. I had one month injury and it was over, but I think this one was a little bigger' the forward said. 'It's hard to take it for yourself. Especially as I'm not used to being injured. It was a bit sad for me but as a footballer, you have to face those things' he added.

Mbeumo also disclosed that the injury was an opportunity for him to focus on himself and to acknowledge that it is 'big luck' to be fit.

Before his injury, Mbeumo had become a big boost to the Bees, scoring seven goals with three assists in 15 Premier League appearances this season.

Reports from Jeune Afrique reveal that former Indomitable Lions AFCON 2017 winning coach, Hugo Broos is being considered for the role. Meanwhile, ANTONIO CONCEIÇAO is also rumored to be one of the candidates on Cameroon's list for head coach.

Conceicao led the Indomitable Lions to a 3rd-place finish at AFCON 2021, without losing a single game in the process but his contract was terminated prematurely.

However, reputable specialised football journalist Richard Naha reports suggest that Conceicao has not received any contact from Cameroon regarding the position.

The absence of a coach on the national team roster became apparent when Coach Rigobert Song's contract entered its deadline without an extension.

It is evident that Cameroon is keen to make the right coaching choice after a period of turmoil as the ministry of sports already assigned the Cameroon football fédération to suggest 3 profiles.
