Burkina President Ibrahim Traore Warns Against Scams Targeting Foreign Investors


Ouagadougou: The President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore, issued a warning to economic operators regarding fraudulent activities targeting foreign investors, emphasizing that such actions will face severe consequences. Traore highlighted the importance of integrity, urging the Chamber of Commerce and all economic stakeholders to prioritize Burkina Faso’s values above other interests.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the President reminded that foreign investors have previously fallen victim to fraudulent schemes by some Burkinabe individuals. Captain Traore stressed that any betrayal of foreign investors by local actors would lead to accountability for the perpetrators.



He also advised foreign investors that Burkina Faso is now focusing on structuring investments that are mutually beneficial and devoid of corruption. Furthermore, Traore reiterated the government’s commitment to securing the national territory and enhancing transportation infrastructure to boost trade.



“We are fighting on the ground to reclaim all of our land and build roads that will allow the free and secure movement of people and goods,” President Traore stated, while speaking at the first Invest in Burkina forum.
