Ouagadougou: The Front de defense pour la patrie (FDP), in partnership with the town hall of Ourgou-Manega in the Oubritenga region, organized an awareness day focused on promoting civic duty, patriotism, social cohesion, and peace. This initiative, held on Saturday, also included distributing food to internally displaced and vulnerable individuals in the commune.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Lassane Sawadogo, the national coordinator of the FDP and a native of Ourgou-Manega, expressed satisfaction with the strong turnout of the local population. This participation indicated the community’s interest in the region’s development. Sawadogo shared that on this citizenship awareness day, five tons of food and detergents were distributed to those in need. Additionally, the event recognized and encouraged teachers through certificates of recognition for their dedication to educating children.
Sawadogo also used the occasion to discuss the significance of supporting President of Faso Captain Ibrahim Traore in his efforts for national development and territorial reclamation. Maimounatou Helene Nignan, president of the special delegation of the commune, praised the day’s organization, emphasizing its role in reinforcing community awareness and understanding the state leader’s vision amid challenges of social cohesion.
Nignan highlighted the importance of such initiatives in maintaining community harmony, especially given the high number of displaced individuals in the commune. She expressed gratitude to the FDP for its contribution to fostering community life.
His Majesty Naaba Sigri de Manega, who patroned the ceremony, welcomed the event’s alignment with Captain Ibrahim Traore’s vision, resonating with traditional values. He emphasized the need for solidarity among the commune’s residents and authorities to support Faso’s President in his developmental goals.
The day’s activities also featured theatrical performances that captivated the audience, illustrating themes of patriotism, civic duty, and enduring peace. As part of the event, two bicycles were awarded to the top students of the 2025 Primary School Certificate (CEP), underscoring the community’s commitment to education.
