Ouagadougou: The National Institute of Statistics and Demography (INSD) launched the 3rd edition of the Harmony Survey on Household Living Conditions (EHCVM-3) for the period 2025-2026, aiming to collect reliable and quality data for public decision-making and combating poverty in Burkina Faso.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the Director General of INSD, Toubou Ripama, emphasized that this survey is crucial for understanding the impact of security and humanitarian crises on the living conditions of populations, particularly internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Burkina Faso. Speaking at the launching ceremony in Ouagadougou, Ripama highlighted that this edition is part of ongoing efforts since 2018 to strengthen the country’s statistical information system and produce comparable regional indicators.
Toubou Ripama assured the audience that the INSD is committed to conducting the survey with rigor and professionalism, ensuring high-quality data collection that aligns with national priorities and international standards. He encouraged open collaboration and active participation to ensure the initiative’s success.
Xavier Bambara, the representative of the Minister of the Economy, stressed the necessity of producing reliable and harmonized statistics to guide public policies and track sustainable development progress. Bambara highlighted that the EHCVM is vital for measuring changes in living conditions and adjusting public development strategies. The data produced will support macroeconomic analyses and guide budgetary decisions to optimize public resource allocation.
The survey will be conducted in three parts, including a household component, with phases from October to December 2025 and from April to June 2026. The investigation will require funding of one billion 980 million FCFA, supported by the State and partners, including the World Bank.
