Buea: Gendarmes arrest Comedian cum promoter, CY International, without warrant

Gendarmes without an arrest warrant stormed the residence of Cameroonian comedian, CY International on Sunday night, picked him up aftwe a complaint filed by the President of the Cameroon International Film Festival, Agbor Gilbert. CY International, who spearheads an '80/20 campaign' supposed for the valorization of Cameroonian content was arrested due to an outing he made concerning a Nigerian actor Alex Ekubo who visited Cameroon. The outing cannot be found on his page again. 'Alot of hate speech , xenophobic outings especially latest one on Alex Ekubo'. A source close to CAMIFF boss told CNA. The areest of Tayong Cyprian popularly known as CY International, came a day after his birthday. But his team has argued that five Gendarmes arrested him without a warrant. They think that this is an arrangement between the Gendarmes and Mr Agbor to frustrate his 80/20 campaign. Our source at CAMIFF said, the President 'filed a complaint normally and dropped his statement' but did not state whether they saw a war rant. Prince Mykel Inobi, a key stakeholder at CAMIFF uploaded a post on his Facebook wall few hours after the arrest stating that, 'today is a great day! 99 days for the thief - 1 day for the Owner. Now you all will C Y #xen0ph0bic approach to chasing clout is bad for our ecosystem.' Source: Cameroon News Agency
