American Technology Proposed to Revolutionize Rice Production in Burkina Faso

New york: Burkinabe Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouedraogo met with former Ghanaian Ambassador to the United States, Koby Koomson, to discuss a project spearheaded by American David Smith. This initiative aims to enhance Burkina Faso’s food sovereignty through the implementation of advanced rice production technology.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Koomson, who is leading the project, stated that the Prime Minister expressed his support for the adoption of this innovative technology. Despite Burkina Faso’s production of one million tonnes of rice in the last campaign, the country still faces a shortfall in meeting its rice consumption needs.

Koomson emphasized that with the introduction of this new technology, Burkina Faso could not only fulfill its local consumption demands but also position itself as an exporter to other African countries. He views this initiative as a significant step towards achieving food self-sufficiency for Burkina Faso and the broader African continent.
