42nd National Police Academy Class Supports Fallen Officers’ Families with Scholarships and Aid


Ouagadougou: The 42nd class of the National Police Academy (ENP) provided scholarships, food, and school kits to the children of its members who died in service, aiming to ease the burden on their families and motivate the children to pursue their education.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the donations, which include scholarships worth 50,000 FCFA each, are tailored to each child’s educational level. Chief Police Commissioner Boureima Sawadogo, president of the organizing committee, emphasized the class’s commitment to supporting families of their deceased colleagues as part of their efforts to cope with the country’s ongoing challenges since 2015.



The initiative, held annually by the 42nd class, highlights the resilience and solidarity of the Burkinabe people. “It is possible to live usefully in Burkina Faso, to live for others by making a modest contribution,” Sawadogo stated.



Police Divisional Commissioner Abdoulaye Belem, Director General of the ENP and event sponsor, underscored the importance of the ceremony, describing it as a message of solidarity, recognition, and hope. He highlighted the sacrifices of the defense and security forces and stressed the significance of supporting the children of fallen officers.



Addressing the beneficiaries, Commissioner Belem urged them to focus on their education, emphasizing its importance in overcoming future challenges. The 42nd class comprises officers from national police, municipal police, and prison security guards.



GrSce Zongo, representing the beneficiaries, expressed gratitude for the support, acknowledging the impact of the donations on their lives and committing to excel in their studies to contribute positively to society.



The event also featured advice sessions for widows and orphans, artistic performances, tree planting, and a community meal, marking the 8th edition of the Charity Day under the theme: ‘One family, one commitment: the 42nd class of the National Police Academy with orphans.’
