eXp Realty Supercharges Agent Earning Potential

Introducing the “Accelerate” agent incentive program, breaking down growth barriers through accelerated revenue share opportunities

BELLINGHAM, Wash., Sept. 07, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) —  eXp Realty®, “the most agent-centric real estate brokerage on the planet™” and the core subsidiary of eXp World Holdings, Inc. (Nasdaq: EXPI), today announced the launch of Accelerate – an incentive program focused solely on helping eXp agents build for their future by maximizing their revenue share earning potential during their first year with the company.

“In the lifespan of an agent, a critical component of long-term success is the ability to build for their retirement, so we launched Accelerate to help catalyze their potential earnings and create momentum in the first year and build for their future,” said Glenn Sanford, Founder and CEO of eXp Realty. “We continue to be relentlessly focused on delivering a model that puts agents first. I couldn’t be more proud of what we have created, especially for those looking to build long-term wealth, with our revenue share and equity programs for agents, as well as a favorable cap and split model.”

Accelerate, which is available in all 24 countries where eXp Realty operates, applies to agents who joined on or after March 1, 2023. The program automatically opens revenue share tiers 2 and 3 for 12 months beginning Sept. 7, 2023, creating the opportunity to have 10 front line qualifying agents (FLQA) immediately. This can open up the eXponential components of eXp’s revenue share program in that first year. After the 12-month period, standard revenue share criteria will apply.

“Accelerate was designed to reduce barriers and incentivize agents to grow their organizations,” said Michael Valdes, Chief Growth Officer, eXp Realty. “It enables them to focus on selling and growing their businesses while earning the maximum potential revenue share for tiers two and three for the first year. Our aligned compensation model, where agents are rewarded for both production and contributions to eXp’s growth, brings more value than ever before.”

This launch comes on the heels of the company’s June announcement that, for the first time, was refining revenue share criteria for its agents, reducing the current FLQA tier 7 threshold from 40 to 30 FLQA. As part of its efforts to continually enhance its model, the company also launched Boost, a program designed to financially incentivize qualifying independent teams and brokerages to join eXp Realty.

Revenue share is just one part of eXp Realty’s aligned compensation model, which also includes competitive commissions and stock equity programs designed to enable its agents to build for their future.

Mosa Meat Becomes B Corp Certified

Cultivated meat pioneer joins the global community of businesses that meet high standards of social and environmental impact.

Maastricht, Netherlands, Sept. 07, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Mosa Meat, a leader in cultivated beef production, announced today to have become a Certified B Corporation™. This marks a significant milestone in the company’s commitment to creating a more sustainable food system and bringing together partners, investors and suppliers who use business as a force for good. Upon certification, Mosa Meat became the first cultivated meat company worldwide to become B Corp™ Certified.

Founded in 2016, Mosa Meat gained international acclaim in 2013 when its founders, Mark Post and Peter Verstrate, introduced the world’s first cultivated beef hamburger grown directly from cow cells. Since then, the company has been dedicated to producing real beef in a manner that benefits people, animals, and the planet. Mosa Meat’s B Corp™ Certification validates its mission to fundamentally reshape the global food system, showcasing its environmental and social performance, commitment to accountability, transparency and leadership in driving economic systems change.

“We are thrilled to become B Corp Certified,” said Maarten Bosch, CEO of Mosa Meat. “This certification validates our commitment to sustainable practices and ethical foundations as well as strengthens our position as trendsetters in the global cellular agriculture movement. We believe in creating real, delicious meat that positively impacts the climate and our food system and are optimistic that these values will be shared across the many stakeholders in our nascent field of cellular agriculture.”

Leonardo DiCaprio, advisor and investor said “Mosa Meat continues to be a champion for change. I am proud to see Mosa Meat be the first cultivated meat company in the world to become B Corp Certified and hope it is the first of many.”

To receive B Corp™ Certification businesses are assessed on performance, accountability, and transparency in their social and environmental impact. They are holistically evaluated on aspects ranging from governance and mission to environmental practices, workers’ welfare and supply chain practices. With this certification Mosa Meat joins a community of caring, responsible and courageous leaders like Patagonia, Amy’s Kitchen, and Ben & Jerry’s that have become a Certified B Corporation™ previously.

After more than a year of thorough evaluation, Mosa Meat became B Corp™ Certified with two Impact Business Models (IBMs): ‘Resource Conservation’ and ‘Mission Locked’.

  • Resource Conservation recognizes products/services that reduce resource use (energy and water)
  • Mission locked recognizes companies that protect their mission and ability to formally consider stakeholders in decision making through their corporate structure or corporate governing documents

For an IBM certification, companies need to demonstrate principles that are specific, material, verifiable, lasting, and extraordinary. While the B Corp™ process is quite selective for companies to go through, gaining an IBM is considered to be even more challenging.

To realise the biggest positive climate impact, Mosa Meat is focused on cultivating beef over other types of meat first, and uses 100% renewable energy at their production facility. According to an independent, peer-reviewed Life Cycle Analysis study, cultivated beef production could reduce climate impact by 92%, air pollution by 93%, use 95% less land and 78% less water when compared to industrial beef production. Additionally, cultivated beef production offers the opportunity to free up land for more regenerative agriculture and re-wilding of habitats, which would further reduce negative impacts of food production. The automated process through which cultivated meat is produced, and the clean environment of its manufacturing, will also drastically reduce the need for antibiotics use and the risk of pathogens, contaminants and foodborne illnesses associated with intensive animal farming.

Nigerian army must embrace emerging technology to achieved modernization-Officer

The Deputy Commandant and Director of Studies, Army War College Nigeria (AWCN) Brig.-Gen. Aminu Umar, has stressed the need for Nigerian Army to embrace emerging technology to achieved modernisation

Umar said this while delivering a paper titled, “Future Warfare and Modernisation of the Military: Implications for the Nigerian Army by 2033” at the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre on Thursday in Abuja.

According to him, there is a need for the Nigerian Army to take deliberate steps to train personnel with the requisite skills necessary to utilise emerging technologies.

He said that available records had shown that the strength of the Nigerian army as of the Second Quarter of 2023 was about 180,000 personnel.

“The record confirmed that about 4.28 per cent, representing 6,840 of personnel were educated on emerging technologies.

“The remaining 153,160 personnel, representing 95.72 per cent, were unaware of emerging technologies and this would undermine the army’s ability to utilise the technology for modernisation.

“For instance, the development of the Nigerian Army Smart Soldier Concept is hindered due to limited skilled manpower in emerging technologies towards modernization of the army.

“Therefore, there is a need for the army to take deliberate steps to train personnel with the requisite skills necessary to utilise emerging technologies.

“Thus, skilled manpower development is key to modernization by 2033,” he said.

Umar said the nature of war remained enduring, but its character changes, adding that one of the primary instigators of the change had been technology which had revolutionised everything from tactics and logistics to weaponry and autonomous systems.

He said the future warfare would most likely be characterised by considerable structural and industrial damage, force dispersion, smaller tailored force structures, new personal equipment, data links to the individual soldier, a 360-degree threat and non-traditional enemy force structure amongst others.

According to him, in line with modernisation efforts towards operational efficiency, the Nigerian army as an integral part of the nation’s armed forces has inducted various military equipment into its inventory with emerging technology applications.

“For instance, the Nigerian army partnered with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) in 2020 to establish a Land Forces Simulation Centre (LFSC).

“The Centre was launched in 2021 and has consistently been employed for capacity building of army personnel to improve operational efficiency.

“The army also established the UAV Command in 2020 to train and maintain a UAV force that will be responsive and timely in delivering air imagery intelligence for Nigerian army missions,” he said.

According to him, in spite of these efforts, the application of emerging technologies for modernisation of the army to improve current and future operational efficiency has not been fully exploited.

“This could be attributed to inadequate skilled manpower and technological infrastructure among others and has limited the capacity of the Nigerian army to leverage precision-guided offensive and defensive weapons technology

“As well as sensors and early warning devices, surveillance and advanced communications to counter the menace of terrorism and other emerging security threats in Nigeria,” he added.

Umar said the Nigerian army was currently involved in spectrum of combat operations, adding that several areas of modernisation through application of emerging technologies were available to enhance efficiency in those operations.

These, according to him, include Artificial Intelligence (AI), virtual and augmented reality, blockchain technology as well as robotics.

The Director General, Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre, Maj.-Gen. Obinna Ajunwa, thanked the resource person and discussants for the thought provoking lecture.

Ajunwa said the lecture was one of many they the centre had planned to organise to enable the center have enough materials to be able to put up a good paper to the Army Headquarter. (NAN) (www.annews.ng)

FCT, JICA partner on nutrition improvement in area councils

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has partnered with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to improve the nutritional status of rural dwellers in the FCT.

Mrs Aishat Abubakar, FCT Desk Officer, Agricultural Development Project (ADP), during the green field day event in Gwagwalada, said the project was a multi-sectoral approach to nutritional improvement.

According to her, the project is a pilot project for nutrition improvement in six communities from two area councils – Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) and Gwagwalada.

She explained that the project had three main areas of concentration namely agriculture, nutrition and livelihood improvement.

“The project is a technical cooperation between FCT and JICA, it is a five-year project which started in 2019 and will end in 2024.

“The project is in two phases; the first phase started in 2019 and ended in 2022 which was very successful. In the first phase, three communities from two area councils were involved,” she said.

She said that in this second phase communities from the six area councils were targeted but during selection period the issue of insecurity was much in Abuja.

Abubakar said that there was no option but to use AMAC and Gwagwalada which was used initially in the first phase of the project, adding that the target was 20 households each from the six communities.

“In this project we targeted six communities, four from Gwagwalada and two from AMAC and in each community 20 households known as the model group were trained on these three areas.

“These model group are expected to go back to their various communities and transfer whatever knowledge they have acquired from the project to other members of the community.

“Although our main target is children under 2-years-old, mothers and pregnant women and their family members”, she said.

According to her, the green field day is the agricultural aspect of the project where a demonstration site is mapped out in the six communities to train the model group on planting techniques.

She said eight crops were used for the project, to train them on types of crops, crop spacing, and fertiliser application among others.

Abubakar said that the major aim of the agricultural aspect was food availability to rural dwellers all year round, adding that the model group after the training would be given three crops of their choice.

She said that some of the crops are maize which is represents energy given food, soya bean or cow peas which represents protein and pumpkin or jute leaves (Ewedu) which represents vegetable.

“Our focus is in these three food groups which are energy given food, protein and vegetables, it is not about planting but planting what the body really needs.

“We are looking at the nutritional aspect of the crops they want to plant; some of them have a very vast land but end up planting just one crop and lacking in another.

“But with this training they will know which crop to plant and how best to plant it for food sufficiency all year round,” Abubakar said.

She said that after the training the list of crops would be given to the model group to choose three crops of their choice, considering the three food groups, also fertiliser and insecticide would be given to them.

She explained that it was expected of FCTA to upscale the project to other area councils at the end of its expiration.

Ms Khadijah Adebayo, Technical Project Staff, JICA, said that the purpose of the project was to develop the effective food based nutrition improvement approach in rural areas.

“We are building the capacity of FCT staff in our selected communities through training on nutrition, agriculture and livelihood improvement.

“The project is in two phases, in the first phase we trained three communities and in this second phase we are training people from six communities,

“These people will in turn train other members of the community,” Adebayo said.

Mr Innocent Ajeafobi, Director, FCT Agricultural Development Project (ADP), represented by Mrs Justina Ogumelen, advised participants to put into practice all they had learnt from the project for a healthy living.

Mr Usman Galadima, Lead Farmer for the project, appreciated the effort of FCTA and JICA for the great opportunity given to rural dwellers to improve their nutrition and agricultural standard.

Galadima said that with the programme they would have enough balanced diets all year round.

“Under this programme, we were taught foodstuff management, cash management, hygiene and how best to handle the environment.” (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)

Female engineers seek take over of Lagos Olusosun dumpsite

The Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN) has appealed to Lagos State Government to hand over the popular Olusosun dumpsite to the association for better management, to tackle air pollution.

APWEN Lagos Chapter Chairman, Mrs Atinuke Owolabi, made the appeal on Thursday during the association’s monthly zoom meeting and technical presentation.

The programme was also organised to commemorate the International Day of Clean Air for Blue skies, with the theme, “Clean Air for Blue Skies: The Role of Female Engineers in Environmental Transformation”.

Owolabi gave a detailed history of the Olusosun dumpsite, which is the oldest and largest in Nigeria, had become a health risk to residents due to strong odour polluting the air.

She commended the Lagos State government’s effort in managing the wastes over the years, but appealed for total closure of the site.

The chairperson appealed that the site be handed over to APWEN to bring in innovations and turn it to an engineering-based solution hub, thereby mitigating environmental and health hazards.

She said pursuit of a healthier environment demanded collective efforts and advocacy, hence, APWEN’s commitment to offer solutions to make community better.

“The dumpsite has been associated with various environmental issues, including air and water pollution, as well as concerns about soil contamination.

“The burning of waste at the site has led to air quality problems in the surrounding areas.

“Proximity to the dumpsite has raised health concerns for nearby residents due to the release of hazardous chemicals and gases from the decomposing waste.

“We, as professional female Engineers in the state, stand ready to proffer innovative solutions that will uplift the lives of those residing nearby while addressing other socio-economic matters within the state and our nation at large.

“We commend the efforts of Lagos State Government over the years towards closure and relocation of this significant and notorious dumpsite.

“We hereby use this medium to appeal to our Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to consider permanent closure of the site to waste disposal and convert the site into an engineering-based solution hub, thereby mitigating environmental and health hazards,” she said.

Owolabi urged Nigerians, in commemorating the International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies, to be intentional in adopting practical steps that promote human and environmental health.

“Together, as female Engineers, we can contribute significantly to the preservation of our planet for generations to come.

“Today, 7th September, 2023, as we mark this global observance, we must reflect on the importance of clean air and the profound impact it has on our lives, our communities, and our planet,” she said.

Owolabi said air quality directly affects people’s health, the environment, and the well-being of future generations, adding that female engineers were doing thier bit as solution providers in society through innovations.

Mrs Helen Taiwo, Executive Director, Operations, Lagos Water Corporation, while taking a technical session, enumerated the functions and capabilities of female engineers and how they could leverage technology to preserve the environment.

Speaking on the theme, she reeled out measures against air pollution for healthy living and livelihoods.

Taiwo said air pollution was a major global problem that caused health challenges and could contribute to climate change issues.

She said environmental engineers play a vital role in reducing air pollution, adding that they design and implement solutions to control emissions and develop new technologies to clean up polluted air.

She listed some major contributions of women engineers in tackling pollution to include innovations and technology development in various sectors; sustainable energy as well as Research and Development. (NAN)
